An orchestral performance of the well known children’s story ‘The Snowman’ with treble soloist will be the main feature of the forthcoming Christmas concert given by the Northampton Concert Orchestra in the church on Saturday, December 10 commencing 7.30pm. The orchestra will, on this occasion, be joined by local pianist, Glen March who additionally will be performing piano solos throughout the evening.
The programme will include Humperdink’s Hansel & Gretel Overture;, Quilter’s Children’s Overture; Charrosin’s Snow-Flakes; Rimsky-Korsakov’s Dance of the Tumblers from the Snow Maiden; and will conclude with a performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Frank Churchill. The performance will be interspersed with well known Christmas carols for audience participation.
Tickets £6 are available in advance from St Giles Music, 16 St Giles Terrace, Northampton or at the door on the evening of performance
Seasonal Singers Christmas Concert, 20th December at 7.30pm
The Seasonal Singers will present their annual Christmas Concert on Tuesday 20th December starting at 7.30pm.
There will be the usual mix of well know carols for both the choir and the audience to join in, as well as two new carols and some new arrangements. Interspersed with the carols there will be a number of readings of seasonal stories. Seasonal refreshments will be served in the interval and all are welcome to come along to what promises to be a most enjoyable evening in the week before Christmas.
Admission is free, but there will be a retiring collection in aid of the church’s outreach.
Music forms an integral part of our worship. Several different forms of music are used during our services. These include organ, a small worship band and an orchestra which plays at Sunday services once a month.
The layout and acoustics of our buildings make them ideal for concerts and a regular programme of concerts are held throughout the year.
